Repair or replace?
- Repair when the faucet is a known brand with available cartridges and the body is in good shape. Most single-handle drips are fixed with a new cartridge.
- Replace when the body is corroded, parts are discontinued, the finish is gone, or the faucet is builder-grade from the 1990s and has already been rebuilt.
- While we are under the sink we replace the angle stops if they are the original multi-turn type. They tend to fail when you need them most.
Hard water and your faucet
Scale builds up in aerators and cartridges. Soak the aerator in white vinegar for an hour every few months. If the faucet gets stiff to turn, the cartridge is scaling and usually needs replacing before it starts to leak. Kitchen pull-down sprayers clog first.
New faucet installs
