24/7 Emergency Plumber in Temecula, CA
What to do in the first ten minutes, and who to call for what.
When water is coming through a ceiling at 2 a.m., the most useful thing anyone can tell you is where the shutoff valve is. This page starts there. Then call us at (951) 744-8310 and we will talk you through the rest while a plumber is on the way.
We take emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across Temecula, Murrieta, French Valley and the wine country.

First ten minutes: shut it off
- Whole house water. Most Temecula tract homes have a shutoff valve on the front or side wall near a hose bib, or in the garage near the water heater. Turn the handle clockwise or the lever 90 degrees. If you cannot find it or it will not move, the customer valve in the meter box at the curb is the next option. A meter key helps.
- Water heater leaking. Close the cold water valve on top of the tank. For gas units, turn the gas control knob to OFF or PILOT. For electric, switch off the breaker.
- Toilet overflowing. Close the valve behind the toilet, clockwise. Lift the tank lid and push the flapper down.
- Gas smell. Do not touch light switches. Leave the house, then call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200 or 911 from outside. Call us after the utility has made it safe.
- Sewage coming up a tub or floor drain. Stop running water everywhere in the house. Every flush and load of laundry adds to the backup.
What counts as a real emergency
Call right away for a burst or actively leaking supply line, a sewage backup, a gas smell, no water to the house, a leaking water heater, or water near electrical outlets or a panel. These cause damage by the hour.
Some problems can wait for normal hours and cost less: a dripping faucet, one slow drain when others work, a running toilet you can shut off at the valve, or a water heater that is lukewarm but not leaking. We will tell you honestly on the phone if your problem can wait until morning.
Who to call for what
Problems on your side of the meter, inside the house, the yard lines and the sewer lateral from the house to the street, are usually the homeowner's responsibility and that is what we fix.
Problems at or before the meter, or a main break in the street, belong to the water agency. Most of Temecula is served by Rancho California Water District. Parts of French Valley and Murrieta are on Eastern Municipal Water District. A sewer main backing up into several homes on a street is EMWD's to fix, since EMWD runs the sewer system for Temecula and Murrieta, with 1,813 miles of sewer pipe across its service area.
Common emergencies we handle in Temecula
And what is usually behind them in local homes.
Burst supply line or flex connector
Braided supply lines to toilets, faucets and washers fail with age, especially above 80 psi.
Shut off water at the house valve, then call. Have photos ready.
Water heater leaking from the bottom
A tank that has rusted through. Hard water shortens tank life.
Close the cold inlet and gas or power. The tank needs replacement, not repair.
Sewage backup into a shower or tub
Roots, grease or a belly in the lateral. Lowest drain in the house shows it first.
Stop all water use. We clear the line and camera it.
No hot water on a cold January morning
Thermocouple, igniter, or a tankless unit that tripped on scale. January lows average 41°F.
Often fixable same visit. Not an after-hours emergency unless leaking.

Local factors that matter
Elsinore Fault Zone
The fault runs through Temecula. Know where your gas and water shutoffs are before you need them.
January freezes are rare but real
Record low is 15°F. Exposed pipes on hillsides and in De Luz canyons can split.
Summer heat
Attic lines and PEX in 140°F attics, and water heaters in hot garages, fail more in summer.

Drain emergency unclog: $300 to $800
Flat-rate after-hours main line clears often land here.

Questions Temecula homeowners ask
Straight answers to the calls we get most. If yours is not here, call and ask. There is no charge for a phone conversation.
Call (951) 744-8310Do you charge more at night?
Yes, like every plumber. You will hear the after-hours trip fee on the phone before we send anyone, and the repair price in writing before we start.
Where is my main shutoff valve?
In most Temecula tract homes, on the front or side wall near a hose bib, or in the garage near the water heater. Older and larger lots sometimes only have the valve at the meter box.
Should I call the water district or a plumber?
If water is leaking at the meter or in the street, call Rancho California Water District or EMWD. If it is inside your property line, call a plumber.
I smell gas. Should I call you?
Leave the house first and call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200 or 911 from outside. After they make it safe, we can find and repair the leak.
Can a slab leak be an emergency?
If water is coming up through the floor, yes. Otherwise shut off the water heater's cold inlet to slow a hot-side leak and book detection for the next morning.
